A4. Like most similar Websites, we cannot guarantee that answers you receive will be 100% complete or correct. It is up to the user to evaluate the accuracy of the answers. However, many of our members are professional scientists (MA or Ph.D.), physicians (MD or DO), nurses, etc.

Q5. When I asked a question, a number of “boxes” appeared on the right side of the screen, What are these boxes?
A5. In addition to returning results from the SciAnswers.com questions and answers database, custom search engines built into the site will also return possible matches and answers to a search query by searching Wikipedia, PubMed and Google. Generally, the “boxes” that appear are references on the Internet that will allow you to easily find and read more detailed answers to your questions or search queries than may be provided by other members. Some of these references are actual publications in refereed scientific/medical journals that are the same ones that scientists and doctors use on a daily basis. Sometimes these journal articles can be read for free, and others may involve a charge.

Q6. My question involved a serious medical condition. Can I use information on your site to decide what to do about medical treatment?
A6. Of course, the first source of information should be your doctor. However, sometimes the doctor may provide more than one solution (e.g., treatment for breast or prostate cancer). In this case, answers and references that occur on SciAnswers.com may help you make a “highly informed” decision.
